At the end of 2016, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the watch factory, Chopard launched its first minute repeater watch, as part of the LUC series, this watch won the highest honor “Golden Needle Award” at the 17th Geneva. The Grand Prix of Watchmaking (GPHG).

For 2022, the LUC Full Strike Tourbillon further enriches their flagship collection, an exclusive creation that adds a tourbillon with sapphire bridges to the one-piece sapphire minute repeater.

The LUC Full Strike Tourbillon strikes the hours, quarters and minutes on transparent crystal gongs. These sapphire rings are an integral part of the watch glass, creating a perfect speaker that faithfully diffuses the chimes of the hammers striking the sapphire, visible at 10 o’clock.

During the striking process, the crown is disconnected from the movement, so any time setting that could damage the movement is not possible. The starter button built into the crown is also deactivated at this time, as a second attempt to trigger the mechanism could force the striking mechanism to couple the clutch.

The crown is used to wind the movement in one direction, while its striking mechanism is in the other, thanks to the differential gear, which transmits the force applied by the hand to the appropriate barrel.

The dual power-reserve indicator at 2 o’clock has two coaxially mounted hands, the first indicating the movement’s power reserve and the other the number of hours that can be started.

The tourbillon is at 6 o’clock. Its crossed sapphire crystal tourbillon bridge pays homage to the patented monolithic sapphire technology inherent in the Full Strike series.

The mechanically wound LUC 08.02-L movement is also revealed through a transparent sapphire crystal case back.

Vibrating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 60-hour power reserve, this chronometer-certified, hand-wound movement is the first example of a Chopard fake minute repeater combined with a tourbillon, contributing to the precision of the movement.

State-of-the-art machining is used for both the movement and the case, which has earned it the quality mark of the Geneva Seal.
