With the launch of the new watch series, the new year is exciting. Sadly, this also means that no other models will be produced. Independent family-owned fine watchmaker Patek Philippe has released a list of watches that will be discontinued in 2021. Let’s take a look at some outstanding watches on the “out” list.
Giant Nautilus-Ref. 5711/1A-010
The production of luxury sports watches with blue dials will be discontinued. This timepiece has a round octagonal bezel and a horizontally embossed dial. Since 1976, Nautilus has been the epitome of elegant sports watches.
Grandes Complications Sky Moon Tourbillon-Ref. 6002G-010
The famous Reference 6002 Sky Moon Tourbillon has 12 complications. It has an extraordinary white gold case with an elegant volute completely hand-carved. The black dial is decorated with cloisonne and inlaid enamel motifs.
Grand Complications Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar-Ref. 5374P-001
This Grand Complication has a new look and a platinum case, with a concave bezel and satin-finished concave sides highlighting soft arcs and circles. The true enamel black dial has applied Breguet numbers and embedded counters.
Annual calendar moon phases – Ref. 5146G, 5146J and 5146R
The patented almanac was launched in 1996 and has been a success story ever since. Indicate the day of the week, date and month, and only need to be corrected once a year. This ingenious mechanism has become one of Patek Philippe’s flagship models.
Flyback chronograph with annual calendar – Ref. 5905P-010
The chronograph occupies a prominent position among the many complications that the Geneva brand showcases its craftsmanship. Over the past 175 years, they have created a large number of different watches, many of which are the most respected and sought after timepieces by connoisseurs and collectors.
Calatrava High Jewelry – Ref. 4899/901G-001
This watch exudes a super feminine charm with its beautiful blue hue. The soft round outline of the white gold case is set with staggered diamonds and sapphires of different colors. The lower part of the dial is decorated with blue sapphire diamonds inlaid with “random” or “snowflake”, while the upper part of the mother-of-pearl is decorated with a hand-carved light blue feather pattern.
Gondoro Serata-Ref. 4972G-001 & 4972/1G-001
Because of their non-circular case, they are recognized as “form” watches, with a unique rectangular, barrel-shaped or cushion-shaped case. Their strong lines, timeless style and geometric simplicity are modern interpretations of Art Deco style. When launching Gondolo, the Swiss watchmaker reinterpreted some historical works that are part of its heritage and can be admired in their museum.
Complication World Time – Ref. 5131/1P-001
For the first time, the center of the dial depicts the world in cloisonné enamel from the perspective of the North Pole. This is an unusual view with depth and realism created by the artist with numerous coatings of different enamel paint colors. The platinum case and bracelet pay tribute to the Far North, giving it a silver sheen.
Watch lovers and connoisseurs will no doubt be interested in the new timepieces released by Patek Philippe this year.
In the world of high-end watches, watches that are no longer produced may be more valuable and more popular than new models.
