The French capital has something special in store for classic car enthusiasts this month. From January 31 to February 4, people can admire a large collection of historic cars at the Salon Rétromobile in Paris. But it doesn’t stop there: Chopard luxury will launch a French limited edition of the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph at the show. In order to create a classic aesthetic, the case of the French limited edition of the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph is made of REACH-certified Lucent steel, which Chopard took four years to develop. The brand’s exclusive steel alloy is made up of up to 80% recycled material and is 50% harder than steel. In addition, the slim bezel, crown and pushers are made of this glossy material and have a polished and satin finish.

Additionally, each component has its own little details. The bezel features a midnight blue tachymeter scale with white markings to match the color of the dial. The knurled pushers are reminiscent of the brake pedal and, together with the notched crown, provide a non-slip grip when adjusting the timing. Welded lugs round out the case and create an elegant transition to the strap.

The case diameter is 40.5 mm and the height is 12.88 mm. Water resistant up to 50 meters. A “glass box” sapphire crystal seals the dial and open case back while creating an enhanced shimmering depth effect. The colors of the French flag also appear on the dial in a variety of subtle ways. A dark blue railway minute track with red markers surrounds the silver dial, which is electroplated and has a circular satin finish. The combination of midnight blue and round shapes is also used for the three snailed subdials.

To improve visibility, the chronograph’s central seconds hand, the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and the 30-minute counter hands are all in red. The red 1000 Miglia arrow logo in the center of the dial provides another red accent. In contrast, the sword-shaped rhodium-plated hour and minute hands and the small seconds hand at 3 o’clock appear more low-key. The hour markers as well as the hour and minute hands have an X1-rated Super-LumiNova coating. A window between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock indicates the date.

For racing, a chronograph is essential. Therefore, this watch is equipped with the ETA A32.211 automatic movement certified by the Swiss Official Observatory, with chronograph and stop-second functions. The movement is exclusive to Chopard and debuted last year in a classic chronograph presented at Watches & Wonders 2023, and is a modernized version of the previous movement.
