The new minute repeater model that was recognized as the best watch of the year 6 years ago.

In 2016, Chopard launched the first minute repeater. and immediately raised the bar for sound quality and purity so high that a year later the LUC Full Strike model won the Golden Arrow at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. This year, the best watch of 2017 is available in a limited edition with a blue sapphire case.

The first Sapphire LUC Full Strike came out last year. In this context, the LUC Full Strike Blue Sapphire can be considered an evolution of last year’s release. Until last year, the watches were available in pink or white gold cases with an “ethical” prefix, ie. Production complies with all ethical standards.

All versions of the high quality cheap watches combine gongs and dial glass, cut from a solid block of sapphire. This is the main feature of this model, for maximum power and sonic purity. The gong itself and the glass are transparent, but the sapphire used to make the case, crown and case back is brilliant blue. To achieve this blue color, chromium and rare earth elements are added to the initially transparent corundum.

The dial here is also made of sapphire, so the mechanism is clear at a glance. Small seconds can be seen at 6 o’clock and a power reserve indicator with two hands is located at 2 o’clock. The first indicates the power reserve of the base movement. The second is the power reserve for the minute repeater, whose energy is provided by a separate barrel. If the repeater’s power reserve is at an extremely low level, it will not activate at all – the repeater mechanism is blocked.

This marvel of horological engineering is powered by a COSC-certified LUC 08.01-L movement. It is a hand-wound movement assembled from 533 parts and designed to run for 60 hours without the intervention of the owner.
