Even the watch designers did not expect the Navitimer to become so popular. In 1952, Willy Breitling, the third generation of the Breitling family, developed a chronograph cheap watch with a circular flying slide that allows pilots to perform all necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the Association of Airline Operators and Pilots (AOPA), the world’s largest pilot club, announced the adoption of the design as its official timepiece.
