Urwerk was founded in 1995 by brothers Felix and Thomas Baumgartner. Over the years, it has been steadily recognized for its extraordinary and bold design. Their first major version was Urwerk UR-103 in 2003. The UR-103 is worth mentioning, because it combines hundreds of years of hovering hours of complication and true avant-garde chassis design, unlike any other model at the time. The UR-103 will lay the foundation for the later UR-105 and the Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex seen later here.
In the past few years, Urwerk UR-105 has become the most interesting canvas for Urwerk watches. In 2015, we saw Urwerk UR-105 TA, which has a variety of eye-catching colors. Recently, the UR-105 Raging Gold watch appeared. But among all the different variants of UR-105, Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex is probably the most interesting and fascinating.
A large part of this is related to the case. The shape of the UR-105’s case is very unconventional, but Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex takes things a step further by using bronze, and the case completes the Notre Dame pattern with a seemingly popular appearance. The texture originates from the small pointed triangle on the top of the shell, which gradually becomes larger as the pattern goes down, and finally forms a small flat-topped pyramid. But this does not stop there, because the bronze case was then specially bronzed and hand-finished to create a very durable appearance. I was told that this process is very laborious and requires mechanical processing, shot blasting, sand blasting and oxidation steps before large amounts of manual finishing can be performed.
Physically, Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex is an eye-catching watch. First of all, it is a big watch, 39.5 mm wide, 53 mm from lug to lug, and about 17 mm thick, but the delicate bronze case is the real highlight. After a lot of manual processing, the bronze case has a dark gold hue with a green hue, which is indeed very special and different from other bronze art papers I have seen. It reminds me of the tarnished brass incense jars you sometimes see in Buddhist temples.
In my opinion, this is where the watch comes from. The unique nail pattern immediately reminded me
T-Rex, or at least what I imagined is “T-Rex”. From a distance, the raised pattern can easily resemble the scales of a reptile, but more importantly, it does have a unique and attractive appearance.
The time is read through a small hole in the bottom of the housing. The numbers and minute tracks are painted with bright green Super-LumiNova. The hour is indicated on the hovering satellite pointer, and the minute can be read only by viewing the position of the roaming hour satellite relative to the minute orbit. The time is about 10:17. Once you have mastered the time, it is easy to tell the time.
The case back of the Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex is not so exciting and looks more or less like a standard UR-105 watch. But remember, your standard UR-105 watch still looks different from any other watch. Here, the bottom cover is made of titanium coated with black ceramic. Moreover, you will also see two turbines near the large crown. By the way, they have the same nail pattern as the bronze case. Near the bottom, there is a winding rod for adjusting the winding efficiency of the Online replica watch.
There are three settings: complete, red and stop. Fully automatic winding means that the automatic winding mechanism will operate at maximum efficiency, so even if you are relatively inactive, the watch can still be automatically wound. Red represents more active people. The stop is self-explanatory. To be honest, this function has no practical purpose, but on the surface it is to protect the movement from violent movement. It may be interesting for car owners to hang around and swing to find out how active or inactive they are.
My only complaint about the Urwerk UR-105 T-Rex is that most of the Caliber UR 5.02 movement is covered. Unlike other UR-105 variants, the satellite system is exposed at the top for the wearer to appreciate. However, I think this is still the sacrifice of the UR-105 T-Rex’s quirky and outstanding bronze finish.
UR-103.08 TIALN You may ask what is TiAlN?
Aluminum nitride titanium. A treatment method well known in the industry for its excellent performance. The TiAlN coating with a thickness of less than 4 microns has the effect of multiplying the ability of the underlying metal to resist scratches, impacts, oxidation and even acid. It is used as a tool when processing metal to ensure that the cutter head is harder than the material to be processed.
Harder than DLC, with a Vickers rating of 3500. In context, steel is only 600 Vickers and sapphire is 4000. In addition to its extremely high strength, UR-103.08 TiAlN also has excellent aesthetics. With the titanium / aluminum ratio, it can produce amazing purple / brown, which is not seen in the watch industry.
Originally released in 2007, now 12 years later, you once again have the opportunity to wear this jewel in the crown of UR-103! With the help of our iconic satellite complex technology, we can display the time of four orbiting satellites, which travel along the tiny trajectory of the sun from east to west. Flip it over to display the control board with power reserve indicator, 15-minute and second dials for precise time setting, and user-adjustable fine adjustment screws to adjust the speed of the best quality replica watches during fast or slow operation .
